Liverpool have the final say in what seems to have been a definitive week in the Premier League title race with Arsenal this week.

There are two teams vying for the silverware this term and the Reds certainly have a strong base to springboard from, starting with Wolves no doubt being the hope whilst their rival travelled to Leicester City.

With the picture set, the ECHO reviews the latest news and rumours surrounding Liverpool in this unfolding Premier League title battle with Arsenal.

Mohamed Salah is not short of fans on Merseyside, or in the world of football as it turns out.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said the Reds' leading goal contributor during this current title charge is his favourite player to watch.

Well, that is amongst those 'outside' of the Gunners.

He responded to Goal's asking of his top five footballers: "I would say Salah, [Cole] Palmer, Vinicius [Junior], [Kylian] Mbappe,’ the iconic Frenchman replied when asked for his five.

"My favourite player is a guy like Salah because despite the longevity his career is still at the top.

Then you have exciting players like [Lamine] Yamal and like Palmer."

At the moment, the Egyptian's contribution towards 62 percent of the team's goals this term have been critical in keeping Wenger's old team off the top of the table.

Waiting for Sunday's match at Anfield, the Reds will be well aware of their title rivals closing the gap to just four points at the top.

It seemed Arteta's side were going to drop points in a goalless draw, however second-half substitute Mikel Merino took it upon himself to drag the second-placed team over the line with 87th and 89th-minute goals.

Naturally a midfielder, he moved up front to make that all-important contribution at the end.

It is certainly the first time I have scored two coming off the bench as a striker.

He would back down from this calling, even if his goals meant pipping Liverpool to the Premier League title or not.
