Aston Villa is nursing more than a few injuries ahead of hosting Liverpool tomorrow evening at Villa Park.
The Villains Aston Villa enters this match following a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town, a result that highlighted their inconsistency.
Despite adding new players like Marcus Rashford and Marco Asensio, Villa has struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities in that draw.
Their recent success in the Champions League has come at a cost to the league, with Villa winning just one of their last five matches directly after a Champions League game.
Arne Slot is aware of the threat that Emery’s side still carries, however, saying in his own pre-match press conference:
“I think Villa away, when you get the fixture list, you all know that Villa away is one of the tougher ones you can face.”
“They qualified for [the] top eight in the Champions League, so it tells you that it’s a strong team we are going to face.”
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the home side’s injury list ahead of the clash
Ezri Konsa – out
Ezri Konsa is currently dealing with a hamstring injury that he sustained during Aston Villa’s FA Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur.
Konsa has been a crucial player for Unai Emery this season, often starting in both the Premier League and Champions League.
Amadou Onana – out
The former Everton man is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury.
He has had a history of similar issues, including a previous hamstring injury in January 2025 that kept him out for about two weeks.
Onana’s absence has been felt in Aston Villa’s midfield, and his return is eagerly anticipated – but the clash against the Reds likely comes too son
Leon Bailey – doubt
Leon Bailey was unexpectedly absent from Aston Villa’s match against Ipswich Town due to a minor issue.
The nature of his absence is not fully disclosed, but Bailey is hopeful to be available for upcoming matches Bailey’s pace and skill on the wing are important assets for Villa, and his return would be a welcome boost.
Boubacar Kamara – out
The central midfielder suffered a muscle injury early in the match against Ipswich Town and has been ruled out for at least two weeks.
He sustained this injury during a match against Brighton & Hove Albion on December 30.
