Liverpool pulled off one of their most surprising wins of the season as Harvey Elliott left it late to sink PSG 1-0 in the French capital.
The Premier League leaders were second best all night in Paris as Alisson Becker enjoyed what he described as his best performance to date in his career, with the Brazilian international a one-man army to protect Liverpool’s clean sheet.
And in football, one moment of luck is all you need, with Elliott providing that moment as the England youth international made Liverpool’s one shot on target on the night count as the former Fulham wonderkid managed to secure a famous win in Paris.
Indeed, the result will stick with Liverpool fans for many years to come, yet for Steve Nicol, the former player was far from pleased with what he saw from the Anfield side against PSG.

Speaking on ESPN FC, the pundit didn’t hold back when reviewing Liverpool’s Champions League performance against PSG, with Nicol critical of how Arne Slot’s side looked in France in a crucial game.
Even with Liverpool coming away with a famous win, most fans will acknowledge that they were very lucky at the Parc des Princes, and Nicol hopes that the Reds learnt their lessons heading into next week’s second leg at Anfield.
Nicol said: “I have never seen this team under Slot lose the ball and give the ball away and look as if they had no idea what they’re doing in this game, it was absolutely mind-blowing.
“All we told is that this Liverpool side is the best in Europe, I tell you what, they weren’t tonight, they were awful, absolute daylight robbery.”

Football is a game where luck can be as defining a factor as quality and tactics, and Liverpool showed just that last night against PSG, who this morning will be scratching their heads over how they didn’t beat the Reds.
With just one shot on target having had their backs against the wall for the entire game, Liverpool somehow go into next week’s second-leg 1-0 up and with one foot in the door to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Indeed, Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool could go all the way after last night’s heroics, and supporters will not care that their performance against PSG in France was as bad as it was given the significance of the win.
