BOURNEMOUTH 1-2 LIVERPOOL – 17TH APRIL 2016 – [2015-16]David Rawcliffe/Propaganda.

Off the back of a thrilling European comeback against Borussia Dortmund, Jürgen Klopp decided to make ten changes for the trip to Bournemouth, just a few days later, with Roberto Firmino being the only survivor.

After a largely quiet first thirty-nine minutes, it was Firmino who broke the deadlock before the break, via an exquisite piece of skill from Daniel Sturridge.

His clever backheel attempt was palmed away by Artur Boruc but only as far as the Brazilian who couldn’t miss from four yards out.

Things were to become even better for the Reds in first-half stoppage time as Sturridge guided a Jordon Ibe set-piece into the corner, doubling his side’s advantage.

The Englishman then had the chance to put the game beyond the Cherries when Joe Allen played him through with the goalkeeper, but the chipped effort went just wide of the post.

Bournemouth were able to get themselves on the scoresheet very late in the game, with forward Josh King scoring a consolation goal in the 93rd minute.

He brought the ball down and took one touch, before volleying into debutant goalkeeper, Danny Ward’s near post.

A great strike that posed no threat to the full-time result as Liverpool came away with a deserved 2-1 win.

A top-four chasing Liverpool arrived at the Vitality Stadium in 2017, hoping to get back on track in the Premier League, following back-to-back home draws against Everton and West Bromwich Albion.

The Reds thought they made the perfect start when Philippe Coutinho’s free-kick struck the inside of the post, but ultimately rolled across the goal-line and Bournemouth survived.

Some individual brilliance from Coutinho then unlocked the Cherries defence in the 20th minute.

The little magician picked up the ball on the left flank and dribbled his way into the box, before striking into the near post to open the scoring.

Dejan Lovren then added a second goal minutes later.

A corner delivery was whipped towards the back-post and marginally kept alive by Roberto Firmino, who was able to flick the ball back into the danger area for Lovren to have a free-header.

Jermain Defoe then struck the post for Bournemouth in the 38th minute, a rare sight on goal for the Cherries.

Liverpool were able to find a third goal before half-time, through Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian did well to get to the byline and shrugged off three defenders to stab the ball into the far corner from a tight angle.

Bobby Firmino scored Liverpool’s fourth in the 65th minute, wonderfully set-up by his fellow Brazilian, Coutinho.

The latter delivered a perfect cross into the area and Firmino was able to rise above his man to head into the near post, leaving Asmir Begovic rooted to the spot.

It was a clinical display from Jürgen Klopp’s side  on the south-coast.

BOURNEMOUTH 0-3 LIVERPOOL – 7TH DECEMBER 2019 – [2019-20]

In the Reds’ Premier League title-winning season of 2019-20, a December trip to Bournemouth saw Liverpool have the opportunity to go eleven points clear with victory.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain managed to get on the end of a floated Jordan Henderson pass, to poke the ball into the net, giving Liverpool the lead in the 35th minute.

A neat piece of play involving three players lead to a second goal, just before half-time.

Link-up between Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Naby Keita resulted in the latter hitting a scuffed strike into the corner for two-nil.

It was the Mohamed Salah show at the Vitality in 2018, as the Egyptian netted a perfect hat-trick in Liverpool’s thrashing of Bournemouth.

The Reds had to wait just shy of 26 minutes before scoring the first goal of the game.

Roberto Firmino’s effort from distance was not well handled by Asmir Begovic, and Salah pounced on the opportunity to fire into the roof of the net.

It was a goal that gave Liverpool the lead heading into the break.

Salah then pounced on another mistake to double his side’s advantage in the 48th minute.

BOURNEMOUTH 0-4 LIVERPOOL – 21ST JANUARY 2024 – [2023-24]

A Liverpool side without their star man, Mo Salah, rocked up to the Vitality Stadium last season and ended up firing four past their opponents for the third time, in five visits.

It was an evenly-contested first half that remained goalless into the break.

Darwin Nùñez’s 100th career goal gave his side the lead just four minutes into the second half.

Tidy play between Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota saw the ball fall at the Uruguayan’s feet, and he calmly slotted the ball past Norberto Neto.

Jota then powered in Liverpool’s second, towards the final 20 minutes.

He met Cody Gakpo’s pass and hit a first-time strike into the near post, leaving no chance for Neto.

Jota added his brace in the 79th minute of the match.

A first-time attempt was seen as a mishit but he made no mistake when the ball rebounded back to him, volleying into the far corner.

As clinical as ever.

A fourth arrived in second-half stoppage-time and Nùñez scored his second.

An inch-perfect cross from Joe Gomez found the forward and he was able to get ahead of his man to tap into the corner via the post.

An excellent finish to top off a largely routine victory for the Reds.

Liverpool have a great opportunity to extend their lead at the Premier League summit this weekend, as Arsenal face off against Manchester City.

They will have the advantage of playing before their title-rivals and can extend the gap to nine points, with victory over Bournemouth tomorrow.
