Liverpool headed into Wednesday night’s game against Newcastle United with their tails well and truly up.
After two tough away trips to Villa Park and the Etihad Stadium, the Reds were back at Anfield and 11 points clear at the top of the table.
With Arsenal away at third placed Nottingham Forest, Liverpool knew they had a real chance to do further damage to the Gunners’ Premier League title chances.
And having started well, it did not take long for Liverpool to find the lead.
Just as he was at the Etihad, Dominik Szoboszlai was on the scoresheet once again.
It was a similar finish from Szoboszlai, on his left foot and through a raft of bodies in the penalty area.
And watching on for TNT Sports, co-commentator Ally McCoist couldn’t help but voice his approval.

Liverpool had already threatened a couple of times before Szoboszlai swept the ball past Nick Pope in the 11th minute.
The goal owed much to the work of Luis Diaz, with the Colombian doing well down the Liverpool left before picking his teammate out in the box.
Szoboszlai finished first time.

In reality, it was a simple enough piece of play from the Hungarian.
Having stood his ground in the penalty box, he was able to avoid marker Sandro Tonali.
And watching on at Anfield, McCoist hailed Szoboszlai’s awareness to just hold his run.

“Szoboszlai, brilliant,” said the former Scotland international.
Watch here, he stops, Tonali goes another two yards towards the goal, that’s how he gets his two yards of space.
It’s amazing to watch the amount of times the defenders naturally go back to defend the goal and Szoboszlai gets his yard.”
Szoboszlai has been good in recent times, upping his output both in terms of goals and assists.
And on the back of a really crucial performance against Man City, the 24-year-old delivered once more with Newcastle in town.
“Just look at the position Szoboszlai picks up there, always in a position to receive the ball,” said McCoist on commenatry.
“Another lovely little reverse ball there.
