Amorim, 39, has earned himself a stellar reputation in Portugal after four-and-a-half years in charge of Sporting Lisbon, winning the league title in his first full season and then again last term.
Guardiola is only under contract with the four-time Premier League champions until June 2025 and speculation surrounding his future is heating up.
As City have identified Sporting chief Hugo Viana to replace outgoing sporting director Txiki Begiristain, it's been claimed that Viana could bring Amorim with him to Manchester in what'd be a seismic changing of the guard.
Coaching Sporting and winning championships is not easy, Sporting went 20 years without winning championships and Amorim arrived and has already won two!
