Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly 'very close' to stepping down as Real Madrid boss to become the Brazilian national team's next manager.

According to multiple reports, the 65-year-old will meet representatives acting on behalf of the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF).

It was reported earlier this month that the Italian would leave the Bernabeu following Los Blancos' Champions League quarter-final exit to Arsenal.

And the Brazilian Football Federation are now reportedly "very confident" of landing their main target.

The development comes less than 24 hours after Barcelona beat Real to win the Copa del Rey in a remarkable Clasico in Seville.

After a 2-2 draw in 90 minutes Jules Kounde scored four minutes from time in extra-time to secure Hansi Flick's side a memorable victory.

Jurgen Klopp has been linked with taking over from the Italian at the Santiago Bernabeu, but in an update about his future earlier this month, the German's agent, Marc Kosicke, insisted his client is happy in his current role as head of global soccer at Red Bull.

“I understand that there have been continued inquiries about Klopp from Europe's top clubs and some federations,” he told Sky Sport Deutschland.

“However, he has no intention of taking over as head coach next season.

Not even at Real Madrid or with the Brazilian national team.

“Jurgen is happy in his role as global director of Red Bull and has a current contract, so there's nothing more to say.”

Trent Alexander-Arnold has also been linked with a move to the Spanish capital, with his current Liverpool deal set to expire at the end of the season.

As reported by the ECHO last month, the 26-year-old is continuing to consider whether to accept an offer from Real.

The La Liga giants also failed in a bid to sign the defender for a cut-price fee during the January transfer window.

Providing an update on his future, the defender said last week: "I have said all season that I am not going to speak on my situation.
