Dwight Yorke has weighed in on the future of Cole Palmer, claiming that the Chelsea star won't be pushing for an exit even if the Blues fail to secure a top-four finish but he can see him ending up at Liverpool.
Chelsea are in the middle of a troubling period of form as they sit fifth in the Premier League, with England international Palmer himself experiencing a seven-game goal drought after starting off the season in style.
While some have speculated that the attacking midfielder might look to leave Stamford Bridge if Champions League qualification isn't achieved, Yorke disagrees.
However, he does believe that Liverpool could tempt Palmer as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah should he depart Anfield.
Speaking to CasinoBeats, Yorke said: "He doesn't strike me as that kind individual.
I don't think he would demand to leave Chelsea if he's playing a season out of the Champions League.
"He's still very young, and he's gone there and turned his career around and became the top man there.
So, watch this space with that if Mo Salah leaves."
Salah's future at Anfield is uncertain, even as he enjoys one of the most prolific seasons of his career, racking up over 50 goal involvements across all competitions and putting Liverpool on the brink of the Premier League title.
Yorke further posited that Palmer holds a similar pedestal at Chelsea, hinting it could sway his decision to remain rather than switch to Merseyside.
"There's no reason why it would not happen if Mo Salah is to leave.
Yes, the Champions League is important.
"If we keep missing out on Champions League, only then does it become a problem for Cole Palmer.
Next year, if Chelsea come back, work hard, and secure Champions League qualification and compete for the Premier League, then everything is happy for Palmer.
"I genuinely believe that the only club that could tempt him would be Liverpool, and even then, they would have to let Salah go first."
