Liverpool’s priority this summer is to bring in a new central striker who can ease the goal-scoring burden on Mohamed Salah.
Salah has had an incredible campaign and – as of last week – is certain to still be around for the 2025/26 season.
However, while the Egyptian will be aiming to deliver yet another prolific campaign, Liverpool must get him some help.
There was hope Darwin Nunez could be that man after his arrival in 2022, but that belief has long since faded.
Nunez is set to leave this summer, paving the way for a new number nine at Anfield.
Alexander Isak would be the top choice of many supporters to fill that void, and as Rousing The Kop revealed earlier this month, Liverpool are quietly confident they can land Isak.
If the Swede signs a new contract at Newcastle, though, he won’t be going anywhere and Liverpool will need an alternative.
But with interest swirling around Eikite, Eintracht have raised his asking price.

Liverpool have been linked with Ekitike to the extent that club legend Jamie Carragher spoke out earlier this week to put him forward as a likely candidate to be signed.
“[Ekitike] smacks to me the type of player Liverpool would sign,” Carragher told the It’s Called Soccer!
podcast.

“He almost looks to me the type of player Liverpool would sign rather than maybe going for an Isak.”
Part of the appeal of Ekitike over Isak is that the French forward would be a lot cheaper than his Swedish counterpart.
That would still be the case, but after journalist Florian Plettenberg’s update on Friday, Ekitike is now going to cost a fair bit more.

“Eintracht Frankfurt have raised the price tag for Hugo Ekitike!” Plettenberg says.
Contract until 2029.”
While Ekitike is clearly a very promising player, Liverpool should be incredibly wary of doing business at this kind of price.
Ekitike’s under-lying numbers are cause for concern and at this kind of hefty price-tag, supporters will be getting flashbacks of Nunez.
As a result, it now feels imperative that Liverpool go all in and ensure they can sign top target Isak.
The Newcastle man is far more established that Ekitike and while he would cost considerably more, would be a better guarantee of goals.
With the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Man United and others in search of a new centre-forward this summer, Ekitike will likely still get his move.
