Liverpool right-back Conor Bradley’s 2024-25 season has now been sidelined for over a month due to a persistent hamstring injury.
The Northern Ireland international, who is an important squad player under manager Arne Slot, sustained the muscle tear during Liverpool’s 2-2 Premier League draw against Aston Villa on February 19.
Initial assessments suggested a 2-3 week recovery, but Bradley has now missed six consecutive matches for Liverpool, including the Carabao Cup final and key league fixtures.
His absence has forced Slot to deploy center-back Jarell Quansah as a makeshift right-back.
The injury also ruled Bradley out of Northern Ireland’s March international friendlies against Switzerland (March 21) and Sweden (March 25).
This latest setback compounds a season marred by issues for Bradley?
Despite his emergence as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s primary deputy, the academy graduate has missed 14 matches across all competitions since August 2024 due to three separate injuries.
The extended layoff comes at a critical juncture, with Alexander-Arnold also nursing an ankle injury and Joe Gomez recovering from hamstring surgery.
Many Reds fans have now been wondering whether the 21-year-old is ready for a return to action after the international break.
John Gibbons of the Anfield Wrap has revealed that Bradley has been in Liverpool training since last week Wednesday, suggesting he could feature in the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Wednesday.
“Been in training since Wednesday so be a week [from the Everton game] which should be fine,” he wrote on X.
This suggests that the 21-year-old has a chance of featuring on Wednesday night.
Meanwhile, speaking at the start of the international break, Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill revealed that the Liverpool defender was frustrated to pick up yet another injury:
“He’s frustrated, but his initial frustration has kind of subsided a little bit,” Neill said as quoted by Belfast Telegraph.
“His focus is on trying to get fit for the end of the season because there is so much to play for.”
“Liverpool have the league run-in which every player will want to be involved in, so I think the focus is on getting himself fit, and Conor is very diligent on that side of things.”
