Liverpool defender Conor Bradley has shared the changes that have taken place in his life since he was named captain of the national team.

Bradley was named the captain of the Northern Ireland national team last Friday, becoming Northern Ireland’s youngest-ever captain in the process.

He made his leadership debut in a goalless draw against Belarus last Saturday before helping Northern Ireland win 5-0 against Bulgaria on Tuesday.

It was not long ago that Bradley made his Liverpool or Ireland debut.

The Liverpool right-back broke into the limelight last season, cementing his place in the Liverpool first team when Trent Alexander Arnold was sidelined with an injury.

So it has been a whirlwind year for the 21-year-old, who has now moved from being seen as a youngster to being the leader of his national team.

The responsibility has brought new changes to Bradley’s life and the defender is hoping his rise can inspire younger players.

What Conor Bradley said

Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, the 21-year-old revealed how much his life has changed since becoming Northern Ireland’s captain.

“It’s strange that people sort of look up to me now,” he said.

“It’s mad how quickly life sort of changes. I’m just grateful to be where I am.

“Obviously, I have worked really hard to get where I am, so hopefully, that inspires young people in Northern Ireland and Liverpool as well, especially that if they work hard too, their dreams can come true.

“For other young people, I hope they can use my journey – obviously, everyone’s journey is different, but just use what they can from it and know that if you work hard, you will get a chance.

“It’s all about, whenever you get that chance, you’ve just got to be ready to take it and make sure you’re in the best way to take it?

Hopefully, it inspires young people around the world.”

Having become influential in the national team setup, Bradley will hope to become a key member of Arne Slot’s squad.

However, he is facing fierce competition with Alexander Arnold.
