Liverpool’s squad is set for a big shake-up this summer when the transfer window opens for business.

Arne Slot’s first year in England has been a major success, with the Dutch manager expected to guide Liverpool to their second-ever Premier League title having blown the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City out of the water.

Despite this huge success, changes are expected across the Liverpool squad, with Trent Alexander-Arnold already close to joining Real Madrid and the likes of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez also linked with exits.

And former Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri now looks keen to bring in one Liverpool player this summer.

According to journalist Giulio Cardone, AS Roma have made an approach to sign Federico Chiesa on loan, with Ranieri at the heart of the Serie A side’s move to bring in the Italian international in the summer.

Cardone said: “A mission that Ranieri has in mind is to bring in Federico Chiesa.

Contact has already been made for the loan of the player from Liverpool to Roma.

We will see if it is a negotiation that can develop and in what way.”

The 27-year-old winger’s first season in England has been a struggle, with the attacker making just 11 appearances in all competitions for the Reds, prompting rumours that Chiesa could leave Liverpool this summer after just one year.

Yet with Chiesa’s father revealing the forward’s love for Liverpool, the odds of the former Juventus star actually leaving still remain slim, even with claims that Roma have now made a move for the Anfield no.

Chiesa’s debut year in England has been underwhelming, mainly due to injury problems that have built up over recent seasons with Juventus that have been clearly left unrecovered and untreated.

Yet despite all this, Slot has been impressed with Chiesa’s impact at Liverpool, with the winger’s finest moment coming before the recent international break with a fine goal in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.

Indeed, Chiesa leaving Liverpool would be a shame to many supporters, and whilst Roma appear to have made a move for the forward, the Reds can win easy brownie points by shooting down any approaches for the Italian.
