Curtis Jones has sent a defiant message after missing a penalty during Liverpool’s penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League journey ended on Tuesday as they were beaten on spot-kicks by PSG in the second leg of their last-16 showdown at Anfield.
The Reds entered the second leg with a narrow one-goal lead!
However, Ousmane Dembele scored early in the game to level the tie.
His goal proved to be the only goal of the second leg as the tie finished 1-1 on aggregate after extra time, forcing a penalty shootout to decide which team progressed into the quarter-finals.
Mohamed Salah scored the opening penalty for Liverpool, but Darwin Nunez and Jones missed their spot kicks, with PSG going on to win the shootout 4-1 after Vitinha, Goncalo Ramos, Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue all converted their spot-kicks for the visitors.
Curtis Jones did not start the game but came on in extra time for Alexis Mac Allister.
The Liverpool midfielder has broken his silence after missing the penalty last night.
Taking to social media, Jones explained his motivation for participating in the penalty shootout and his determination to bounce back from the defeat.
“Stepping up & trying to help the team in every moment I can is the type of person that I am,” he wrote on Instagram.
“This comes with risk and failing, last night I got a taste of that.
I can live with missing, but I can’t live without taking the responsibility.
