Curtis Jones certainly didn’t hide his emotions after a dramatic Merseyside derby on Wednesday, and his sending-off against Everton perhaps shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The Liverpool midfielder was shown a red card after he reacted angrily to Abdoulaye Doucoure celebrating Everton’s late equalizer in front of the visiting supporters at Goodison Park after the final whistle.

The academy graduate has received plenty of support from Liverpool fans following the incident, having posted on social media on Thursday.

His reaction to Doucoure was perhaps to be expected, given what he has said about the Merseyside derby in the past.

While Jones will miss Sunday’s game against Wolves, it’s not yet known whether Slot will be in the dugout, with the FA set to review his case.

Giving his reaction to Jones’ sending-off, the Liverpool boss said during his press conference on Friday: “I like a lot that he stands up for the team, but there are also other ways - for the team and for the fans - to do that maybe

I will talk to him about that.

“It’s the same for me, I should have acted differently after the game as well, but it’s an emotional sport, and sometimes individuals, out of emotion, make the wrong decision, and that’s definitely what I did.”
