Darwin Nunez has sent another defiant message to his critics on social media as his difficult campaign for Liverpool continues.

The Uruguayan has struggled to nail down a starting berth under Arne Slot while his future with the Reds remains the subject of speculation ahead of the summer transfer window.

Reportedly attracting interest from AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Saudi Arabia, Nunez has scored seven goals this season with only five of them coming in the Premier League.



Meanwhile, he has started just 17 of his 42 appearances, with only one of those coming in the English top-flight in 2025.

The striker came in for public criticism from Slot back in February following his performances off the bench against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa.

While the 25-year-old missed an open goal at Villa Park as Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw, the Dutchman’s main grievance was the player’s work-rate.

Facing backlash from supporters at the time, Nunez would respond on social media.

Nunez would also take to social media after missing a penalty in the Reds’ second-leg shoot-out defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

Posted alongside a number of images from the game, he wrote: “Get up and keep going, as always.”

Meanwhile, he has also marked victories over Newcastle United, PSG, Southampton and Everton on social media in recent weeks.

But now Nunez has shared his most peculiar post yet after posting an edited video that features footage of the forward for Liverpool and Uruguay, only to be replaced and morphed into AI-generated Ancient Roman sculpture.

Alongside the video, Nunez wrote: “It’s not about how many times I fall.

Nunez had come on as a 66th minute substitute in Liverpool’s 3-2 loss away at Fulham on Sunday afternoon, but had not come in for criticism following the defeat.

While Nunez is expected to be sold by the Reds in the summer, he could still depart as a Premier League champion.

Liverpool are currently 11 points clear at the top of the table, despite their defeat at Craven Cottage, and need a maximum of 11 points from their final seven games to win the title.
