Darwin Nunez is fast approaching the halfway point of his six-year Liverpool contract signed when joining from Benfica in the summer of 2022.

Just over 1,000 days after the Reds agreed a £85 million for the striker, his transfer value has never been lower than it is now.

For the first time since making the move, his worth on the website transfermarkt has fallen below what it was at the end of his final season playing in Portugal.

After only scoring seven goals across all competitions - his lowest return at this stage of a season - that is perhaps no surprise.

Nunez has been similarly unproductive while playing for Uruguay, not scoring for his national team since late June.

As such, his value on Transfermarkt has fallen £13m since mid-December from £55m to £42m.

It also comes after the Reds reportedly rejected a £70m offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal.

Following his move to Liverpool, it rose to £59m and has yet to eclipse that figure over the years since.

His value dropped to £55m at the end of his first season before rising back to his previous high this time last year after Nunez scored ten goals in three months.

It stayed there at the end of that season, but after a slow start to this campaign, that value dropped back again in October.

Despite his struggles continuing over the next month-and-a-half, it remained the same when last year ended.

However, after few signs of returning to any consistent form in 2025, his value is now at £42m, which leaves the striker ranked 86th in the world and 43rd across the Premier League.

Level with Marcus Rashford and Ollie Watkins, Nunez is now ninth in the Liverpool squad, worth the same as Curtis Jones and just above Diogo Jota, who has also recently dropped.

"I'm happy thinking about the national team, enjoying every minute with it,” Nunez said upon joining up with Uruguay for international duty, as quoted by El Pais.

“These are moments that one goes through in football.

"As I said recently, I'm not someone who throws in the towel because they don't play, but rather I'm going to keep working so I can play.

"I know I'm not performing as well as I should.

It's difficult because when you're doing well, like when I came on against PSG, your confidence changes, with the idea of being able to break it in the next match.

“But then you get a slump, and I'm always there to help my team0mates come back to the national team.
