With his future dominating the headlines once again after his goal at Leicester, Trent Alexander-Arnold could soon be following in David Beckham’s footsteps by making the move to Real Madrid this summer.
As much as Arne Slot wanted the headlines to be about his winner for Liverpool, which leaves the Reds on the verge of the Premier League title, it’s Alexander-Arnold’s future at Anfield that continues to be the talk among supporters and pundits alike.
Of course, Steve McManaman took the same route Alexander-Arnold looks to be utilizing by making the switch at the end of his contract at Anfield, while Michael Owen made a somewhat unsuccessful move back in 2004, lasting just a year at the Bernabeu.
Perhaps the most famous of them all though is former England captain Beckham, who spent four years in Madrid after leaving Manchester United.
And Beckham has already sent a message to Alexander-Arnold this season
@trentarnold66,” Beckham posted on Instagram alongside a picture of Alexander-Arnold in action against Bayer Leverkusen, while also tagging in Militao and the other stars involved.
Back in October, he appeared on the Rio Ferdinand Presents podcast, where he selected the Liverpool vice-captain as the player who mirrors his own skillset best when it comes to delivery and passing.
"I suppose if there was one player where I look at and I think, 'he's very similar in the way he delivers the ball, he's very similar in the way he crosses the ball or passes', it has to be Trent," Beckham told Ferdinand.
"In all honesty, I think he's an unbelievable [player] - his vision, he's unbelievable
And he's an exceptional player, but when I look at a player and I think I see myself in the way he puts the ball in, what he sees in the long balls that he plays, you know he plays balls that some players don't even think about and that's what I love about him as a player."
