David Moyes has heaped praise on Mohamed Salah ahead of the Merseyside derby this evening.
Liverpool enter tonight’s clash with a commanding nine-point cushion over Arsenal at the Premier League summit.
Arne Slot’s men have been in imperious form in the league, remaining unbeaten in their last 25 matches – the third-longest top-flight run in the club’s illustrious history.
Despite recent setbacks in cup competitions, including their Champions League exit to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties and a Carabao Cup final defeat to Newcastle, Liverpool’s domestic dominance has remained unwavering.
Meanwhile, Everton arrive at Anfield in impressive form under David Moyes, unbeaten in their last nine Premier League outings.
However, recent fixtures have seen the Toffees draw four consecutive matches, including a 1-1 stalemate with West Ham before the international break.
Currently sitting 15th in the table with 34 points, Everton find themselves closer to the European places than the relegation zone – providing ample motivation to upset their high-flying neighbors.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, David Moyes labelled Mohamed Salah as one of the best Premier League players of this generation:
“He’s having an unbelievable season for Liverpool,” he began.
“But let’s be fair we’re talking about one of the top Premier League players of this generation.”
“And it’s not just this season, he’s been so consistent over most seasons; scoring plenty of goals, plenty of assists, looks as if he plays nearly all the games, very rarely injured.
He’s been an excellent player for Liverpool.”
When quizzed on how the Toffees would be able to deal with the Egyptian, the Scot jokingly mentioned his contract situation at Anfield:
“We’ll enjoy taking him to the airport and getting him on the plane, getting him out.”
He added on Liverpool as a whole:
“Liverpool’s league position shows how they are playing,”
“They’ve had a couple of tough games but that can happen.
