The dust is continuing to settle on what was a frenetic and drama-filled Merseyside derby on Wednesday night.

Slot was dismissed by referee Michael Oliver after the final whistle for allegedly using “offensive or abusive language” during a heated exchange.

The fiery encounter, which saw Everton equalize in stoppage time through James Tarkowski, had already seen two player red cards issued to Curtis Jones (Liverpool) and Abdoulaye Doucouré (Everton) for a post-match altercation.

Initially, reports suggested Slot would face a two-match ban, ruling him out of Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures against Wolves and Aston Villa.

However, the Premier League later retracted its statement confirming the suspension length, leaving uncertainty over when Slot will serve his red card ban

What did David Moyes say about Arne Slot?

Speaking in his pre-Crystal Palace press conference, the Scot was first quizzed on how the squad was feeling on the training pitches after the draw against Liverpool:

“Yeah, it was smiley, we weren’t smiling when it was a minute to go in the game, but we were in the last minute and have been since then.”

“But we took a point from the game, we didn’t take three points from the game so we’re realistic that we got something even though it was looking like were going to get nothing,” he explained.

“It’s given us a good feeling it really has.”

Speaking on Slot, Moyes revealed that he can relate to how his opposite number lost his cool at Goodison Park last night – and went on to say that he actually feels for the Dutchman:

“I feel a bit for Arne Slot because when I was a younger manager, I was always getting involved in heated things,” he said.

“It tells me he cares a lot about his team.”

“When you get a bit older you sometimes stand back and say ‘what was I doing there?'”

“I’ve had plenty of moments I’m not proud of but we all have to fight our corner.”
