Interest is intensifying for one of the hottest strikers on the planet at the minute.
Alexander Isak has been in fine form this season, scoring 23 goals for Newcastle United, including the winner in the Carabao Cup Final against Liverpool that ended the club’s 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy.
With such stellar performances on the pitch, clubs have began the hunt for the Swede’s signature, with Liverpool well in the race.
Isak is under contract with the Magpies until 2028 and has no release clause in his current deal, but Newcastle United are preparing for an eventful summer, as they look to further extend the deal of their star man.
Newcastle have already qualified for the Conference League thanks to their triumph in the Carabao Cup Final, but they will be hoping to secure Champions League football for next season which could help their efforts in keeping Isak at the club.
Isak has recently come out and said that his immediate focus is on Newcastle, when asked about his future.
He said: “About my future, it’s nothing really, I think about.
I’ve said many times during a season, just focus on the job and now is probably the worst time to think about anything else.”
There have been recent reports that Jarell Quansah could be used in a swap deal plus money for Isak, but those reports have since been rubbished by David Ornstein.
Ornstein provided this latest update during a Q&A with The Athletic, he said: “I don’t know of Newcastle wanting to get involved in any part-exchange situations.
James’ Park hierarchy at all.”
“History tells us every player has a price and if somebody offers what is considered market value, or even higher, perhaps Newcastle will have something to think about.”
Despite each development on this news eagerly followed by Liverpool fans, Isak’s services will be extremely hard to acquire, and it could take an astronomical offer to get this one over the line.
