After an impressive first season under Arne Slot that has Liverpool on the verge of securing the Premier League title, the Merseyside club is reportedly preparing for what could be their biggest transfer window in recent history.
Multiple reports indicate that Liverpool’s sporting director Richard Hughes and manager Arne Slot are planning a significant squad overhaul this summer to address several perceived weaknesses that have been exposed in cup competitions.
Even Arne Slot has hinted that it could be a busy summer, with the Dutchman saying that Salah’s extension is part of a broader transfer plan ahead of the win over West Ham:
“We’ve worked hard — and by we, I mean the ownership (Fenway Sports Group), Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes — to achieve that.
And that’s a good start for this summer, clearly…”
“We have all the confidence in him that he can produce two more years than he has produced in the past seven or eight years, because of the reasons I just gave you.
But also because we will make this team very strong next season.”
The Premier League has officially confirmed the dates for the summer 2025 transfer window, which will open between June 1-10 for an exceptional registration period relating to the FIFA Club World Cup, before reopening on June 16 and closing on September 11.
Liverpool is expected to be among the busiest clubs during this period, with trusted journalist David Ornstein describing it as a “really busy summer” for the Reds – and not just regarding incomings:
“It’s going to be a really busy summer with recruitment,” the Athletic reporter said to NBC Sports.
“I think they’re in the mix for Dean Huijsen at Bournemouth, the centre-half, Milos Kerkez, the left-back at Bournemouth.
Perhaps a striker with Darwin Nunez expected to leave as well.”
“The uncertainty surrounding Ibrahima Konate, who’s going into the last 12-months of his contract, with no breakthrough on those terms.
“What’s going to happen with Jarell Quansah, Harvey Elliott, Joe Gomez, and even Luis Diaz is approaching the final two years of his contract so there’s a lot to sort out.”
With Darwin Nunez expected to depart this summer amid interest from Saudi Arabia and Atletico Madrid, Liverpool are in the market for a new striker.
Newcastle’s Alexander Isak is reportedly high on their wishlist, although his £150 million price tag could prove prohibitive?
