Dean Huijsen is wanted by Liverpool this summer, yet the Reds are far from the only club interested in signing the AFC Bournemouth man.

This week has seen Chelsea take a big leap in landing Huijsen with the Blues seemingly in the lead to sign the Spanish international, with Liverpool losing ground in their bid to bring the 20-year-old to Anfield this summer.

With Liverpool linked with Huijsen for some weeks, the Reds are still not out of the race for the Amsterdam-born talent, with Arne Slot’s side set to secure the Premier League title this weekend in what could be a huge boost for their odds in landing summer targets.

And Liverpool could also deal a huge blow to Chelsea’s own chances of signing players like Huijsen in the next ten days, depending on what happens in the Premier League.

As reported by Sky Sports News, Huijsen is factoring the UEFA Champions League when considering which club he wants to join this summer, a competition Liverpool have already qualified for with five games left to go.

With Chelsea looking unlikely to qualify for the Champions League next season, Liverpool can all-but end the Blues hopes of booking their ticket in the biggest club competition in Europe by beating them next week at Stamford Bridge.

Indeed, such a blow for Chelsea will greatly affect their summer spending, and when it comes to the race for Huijsen, Liverpool will have a huge advantage over their west London rivals with the promise of Champions League football next season.

And for Liverpool fans, being the club that ends Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League will feel like a little extra on top of winning the Premier League given the rivalry the two sets of supporters have developed over the years.

Huijsen is clearly a top target for Liverpool having established himself as one of the best talents in the Premier League this season, with the 20-year-old a player who could thrive at the very top for the next ten years or so.

And in the next ten days before Liverpool face Chelsea, the Reds must step up their interest in Huijsen, who could favour a move to Anfield over Stamford Bridge if the Merseyside giants claim all three points in west London next week.
