Liverpool fans have had to wait another full week to see their team in action again.

The Reds narrowly escaped from last weekend’s game against West Ham with a win to put them one step closer to the Premier League title.

If Arsenal lose at Ipswich and Liverpool beat Leicester City on Sunday, the Reds will be crowned Premier League champions on Easter Sunday.

With a full week to prepare at the Liverpool training ground, Arne Slot has hopefully been able to iron out some of the wrinkles he will have seen against West Ham last time out.

One player who has been back after missing the clash with the Hammers is Darwin Nunez, who sat out after contracting a mystery illness.

Nunez’s absence caused speculation that the Uruguayan had actually missed the game after a bust up through the week.

Ahead of the Leicester match, Slot has moved to clarify exactly what happened and reveal whether Nunez will be back on Sunday.

It has been clear for a long while now that Nunez will leave Liverpool this summer.

The 25-year-old simply has not lived up to his billing over the last three years.

Nevertheless, it would be a shame for his Reds career to end on an acrimonious note, which suggests of a training ground bust-up would all but confirm.

According to Slot, though, there was no incident to speak of with Nunez.

In quotes from the Liverpool ECHO, the Reds boss cryptically said the striker simply ‘didn’t feel himself’ and confirmed he will be back for Leicester.

“No, he didn’t [have a falling-out],” Slot said.

He didn’t have words with a staff member.”

“He didn’t feel himself the day before the match, and he went inside and he wasn’t able to be part of the team the day after.

He didn’t feel himself.

“He definitely will be [involved on Sunday].”

Although Slot’s answer here actually provided more questions than answers, it is at least pleasing that Nunez has been able to get his head down and get back to work quickly.

The No.9 looked his usually smiley self in pictures and clips from Friday’s training session, so whatever issue there was appears to have been ironed out.

As he awaits a summer move, it must be difficult to remain focused and neutral for Nunez.
