Liverpool's Diogo Jota was quick to express his mixed feelings after finding the net against Nottingham Forest, with a hint of frustration at not being able to bag a winner.

The Portuguese attacker wasted no time making an impact, heading in from Kostas Tsimikas' corner just 22 seconds after entering the pitch.

Despite being thwarted by Forest’s keeper Matz Sels and having one cleared off the line, Jota's four attempts were only second to Mohamed Salah’s at the City Ground.

Jota’s tally against Forest now stands at seven in seven and he relished adding to his record on Tuesday night, but he couldn't hide his frustration at missing out on the winner.

"I think it's just a coincidence," Jota reflected on his scoring streak.

I scored with my first touch today and obviously that gave the team a bit of momentum."

I had two more chances, I think I could have given us the three points.

"I actually said to him, we were watching the cup goal from two or three years ago where he passed it to me," he reflected.

"And we were on the touchline there and I was just saying, 'Let's do it now, recreate your assist, take the corner'.

But like I said, I'm not happy because I think we could have won."

Jota admitted expressing frustration at Forest goalkeeper Sels' performance to his old Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

"I was telling that to my previous coaches there at Wolves – I think he made two great saves," he confessed to TNT Sports.

"Obviously you want to do better [in front of goal] but I think he was good as well."
