Luis Diaz returns to the Liverpool lineup as Arne Slot makes one change for the team that is hosted by Manchester City at the Etihad.

Diogo Jota drops to the bench and Cody Gakpo is among the substitutes as the Reds go in search of a victory that will take them 11 points clear of Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

Gakpo has missed the last two games with a foot injury picked up in the Merseyside derby draw with Everton but is back in the squad alongside Diogo Jota, Federico Chiesa and Darwin Nunez for what is a bench packed with firepower.

Slot names an unchanged midfield of Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai with Jota, Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott to choose from on the bench.

Curtis Jones keeps his place from the midweek trip to Aston Villa and will be stationed off the left side while being encouraged to help out in the centre of midfield at times.

Trent Alexander-Arnold starts once more alongside Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson.

Conor Bradley is absent with a muscle injury picked up in the 2-2 draw with Villa on Wednesday evening.

Kostas Tsimikas, Caoimhin Kelleher and Jarell Quansah complete the nine-man bench for the Reds as they look to extend their lead at the top of the table with what would be their first victory at Manchester City for 10 years.

Erling Haaland misses the game for City with the knee injury picked up in last week's 4-0 win over Newcastle ruling out the Norwegian striker.
