Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed when Liverpool players can begin to believe they will win the Premier League after another impressive win at Anfield.
Liverpool secured their 20th league win of the season on Wednesday as they brushed Newcastle United aside to go 13 points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister gave Arne Slot’s side the win, extending their unbeaten run in the league to 24 games.
The only team that has defeated the Reds this season remains Nottingham Forest, who did so in September.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s top-four-chasing side may have taken points off Liverpool, but they also helped the Reds solidify their place at the top of the table by taking points off Arsenal on Wednesday.
After losing against West Ham last weekend, the Gunners failed to defeat Forest, meaning that they now trail Liverpool by 13 points, with just ten games to go.
Speaking after the game, Liverpool goal scorers Alexis Mac Allister and Szoboszlai faced the media.
Szobozlai, who was scoring in back-to-back games for the first time in his Liverpool career, was asked when the Liverpool players can consider it safe to start believing they will win the league, given they are now 13 points clear at the top.
“Well, after mathematically, they (Arsenal) have no chance to get us,” he told TNT Sports.
‘So, we are really happy that we are 13 points clear, but we focus on ourselves.
Now we have the Champions League coming up, so we have to focus on it as well.
“Game by game, we are looking forward to staying at the top.”
Asked how he and his Liverpool teammates consistently perform at the top level, Mac Allister said:
“I think is the desire.
We are really happy and working really hard?
Hopefully, we can keep going.”
Next for Liverpool is a tricky away trip to PSG in the UEFA Champions League.
