The Merseyside club currently sit top of the English top flight, four points ahead of second-placed Arsenal but Arne Slot’s side have dropped points in their last two matches.

Liverpool drew with Manchester United at the start of January before sharing the points with Nottingham Forest on Tuesday night as the two teams played out a 1-1 draw.

The City Ground was always going to be a tough place for the Reds to go and the Gtech Community Stadium is statistically even tougher, with Thomas Frank expecting an “entertaining game” with Liverpool.

For the Brentford clash, Slot has picked a starting 11 most fans would have anticipated, however, two notable stars are sitting on the Reds’ bench.

For Liverpool’s trip to Brentford, the starting 11 picked by Slot looks very familiar to Liverpool fans with the Dutch coach making just one change from the draw with Nottingham Forest.

The 46-year-old has brought in Kostas Tsimikas for Andy Robertson following the Scottish star’s struggles midweek at the City Ground.

The left-back has struggled this season and Robertson’s form is a big concern for Jamie Carragher and fans of the Reds as the defender has started to show his age.

Slot’s decision to drop the full-back may say a lot about his plans for the 30-year-old as Liverpool continue to be linked with Milos Kerkez, amongst other left-back targets.

Many Liverpool fans expected the Uruguayan to be given a chance to start in London given that Luis Diaz played midweek.

However, Slot is not ready to rely on the struggling striker, and with the 25-year-old linked with a move away this week, this decision does not look could for his future at Anfield.

Nunez has been a fan favourite since completing his move to Merseyside from Benfica during the summer of 2022, but the Uruguayan has not lived up to the £85m fee Liverpool paid the Portuguese giants for the striker.

The 25-year-old has lacked composure in front of goal, has displayed poor decision-making and has a tendency to run offside; all of which have frustrated fans of the Reds.

Nunez has not been relied upon by Slot this season with the Dutch coach preferring to deploy Diaz up front over the natural striker.

This has resulted in Nunez being linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and a summer transfer may be on the cards after this latest decision from Slot.
