Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke expects Arne Slot to "fail" at Liverpool after he was named Jurgen Klopp's replacement.

Klopp stood down as Liverpool boss at the end of last season and Slot, who won the Eredivisie and the Dutch Cup at Feyenoord, has been tasked with stepping into his shoes.

However, Yorke is not convinced he is the right man for the job.

Speaking to Crypto Casinos, Yorke claimed no Dutch manager other than Louis van Gaal has been a success outside of their homeland in recent years and he does not believe Slot has "shown any proof that he can adapt to British football".

I think Arne Slot will fail to impress, the same way Erik ten Hag has.

No Dutch manager has stood out to me, other than Louis van Gaal, but top clubs like Liverpool and Man United are signing these Dutch managers based on Johan Cruyff's philosophy.

"Ronald Koeman is another one who has struggled.

Arne Slot did do well in the Eredivisie but you'd also expect managers at the top Dutch clubs to do well since there are not a lot of teams in that league that can compete with the top.
