Having signed Mamardashvili, Liverpool may look to move on from Alisson during the summer of 2026 as the Brazilian goalkeeper can be sold for a fee with just one year remaining on his current deal.
“At some point, Liverpool are going to have to move past Alisson, I don’t think that will be anytime in the next couple of years, and he [Mamardashvili] is a good player to have on your books,” Hislop stated on ESPN FC’s Extra Time.
Hislop also commented on the situation of Caoimhin Kelleher at Liverpool and the former West Ham star believes he knows what is best for the future of the Irishman.
With Alisson tending to pick up injuries, Kelleher has been incredible for Liverpool when being called upon over the last two seasons.
The Irishman has shown that he is capable of playing at the highest level with Chris Sutton labelling Kelleher as “outstanding” following his performance against Real Madrid this season, in which the 26-year-old saved a Kylian Mbappe penalty.
Ben Foster believes Liverpool are in an “unbelievable situation” when it comes to their goalkeepers, but it may be time for Kelleher to leave with Mamardashvili arriving on Merseyside this summer.
Hislop believes the Ireland star is ready to move on, with the pundit stating on ESPN FC: “I think Kelleher is ready to move now.
I think he should in the summer.”
Newcastle, West Ham and Chelsea could all be options for Kelleher this summer as the 26-year-old is more than ready to take the next step in his career.
