Egypt’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr.

Ashraf Sobhi, has officially inaugurated the Mohamed Salah Youth Center, a sports facility established in 2018 that has recently undergone renovation.

The youth centre was funded by the Liverpool and Egyptian national team star in 2018.

The opening ceremony took place with a select group of attendees, including Mohamed Salah’s father, Salah Ghaly, and his brother Nasser.

Also present was Mr.

Mustafa Qarni, the Executive Director of Othmason Tanta Club, who holds the distinction of being Salah’s first coach and the person who discovered his talent before sending him to Arab Contractors Club (Al-Mokawloon), where Salah began his professional journey.

Though Salah himself was not present at the ceremony, his family represented him during this significant occasion.

The facility is expected to include multiple sports amenities as well as a museum section displaying some of Salah’s memorabilia, including footballs, shirts, and images from his illustrious career.

The location of the youth center holds special significance in Salah’s story as it’s in the striker’s hometown of Nagrig, Gharibya governorate.

Before reaching international stardom, Salah began his football journey at local clubs including Ittihad Basyoun and Othmason Tanta.

As a teenager, he would often make three-hour journeys to training sessions, demonstrating the dedication that would later define his professional career.

During the ceremony, Dr?

Sobhi reiterated the ministry’s commitment to creating opportunities for young athletes throughout Egypt.

“Projects like the Mohamed Salah Youth Center serve multiple objectives, including developing talent, selecting promising athletes, and providing constructive ways for young people to spend their time through sports,” he said.

This initiative aligns with previous ministry efforts, including the Youth Football League project, which has seen participation from over 17,000 players representing 570 youth centers across the country.

The establishment of this renovated youth center comes at a time when Salah continues to break records and achieve new milestones in his stellar career.

The Egyptian captain recently became Liverpool’s third-highest goalscorer in club history and has earned numerous accolades, including two PFA Players’ Player of the Year awards and three Premier League Golden Boots.

In 2018, London’s British Museum showcased Salah’s football shoes as part of the ‘Modern Egypt Exhibition,’ highlighting his cultural significance beyond the sporting world.
