England will face Slovakia in the Round of 16 at Euro 2024?
Slovakia secured third place in Group E with a 1-1 draw against Romania on Wednesday.
Winning their group has placed the Three Lions on the favourable side of the draw.
France, Germany, Portugal, Spain, and Belgium—all tournament favorites—are on the opposite side.
Should Gareth Southgate’s team defeat Slovakia, they will meet the winner of Switzerland vs Italy in the quarter-finals.
Potential semi-final opponents include Romania, the Netherlands, Austria, or Turkey.
Georgia caused a major upset by defeating Portugal, leading to England facing Slovakia instead of the Netherlands.
The Dutch will face Romania, while Georgia will play against Spain—a team they lost 10-2 to in qualifying.
Slovenia, the final third-place team, will challenge Portugal.
Belgium’s draw with Ukraine in their last group game means they finished behind Romania in Group E, setting up a Round of 16 rematch against France, a repeat of their 2018 World Cup semi-final.
