Premier League clubs are reportedly set to hold talks over a rule change that would affect both Everton and Liverpool for next season.

The summer transfer window is set to be a topic of discussion, with proposed changes set to be on the agenda.

The Telegraph have reported that clubs will discuss bringing forward the transfer deadline for this summer, with owners and chief executives set to be present, including representatives from the Blues and the Reds.

This, the report states, would be to ensure the transfer window closes before the start of the Premier League season.

The 2025/26 campaign is currently scheduled to get underway on August 16.

The report states that, if the vote passes, the new deadline would be on Thursday, August 14, two days before the Premier League campaign is scheduled to get underway.

All 20 Premier League clubs - including Everton and Everton - are set to meet on Thursday to discuss the proposal.

A majority of 14 votes in favour of the changes would be required to implement the proposed movement of the transfer deadline.

Last season, the deadline for Premier League clubs was on August 30, almost two weeks after the season had begun.

Both Everton and Liverpool completed at least one signing after the top-flight campaign had begun this term, which if the rules were to change would no longer be possible from next season.

It would not be the first time that Premier League clubs have introduced a change to the transfer deadline.

Top-flight clubs have previously voted to close the window before the start of the season in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 campaigns.
