Former Everton and Manchester United goalkeeper Tim Howard believes he can persuade Jurgen Klopp to return to management with the US national team.

Klopp stepped down as Liverpool boss at the end of last season, revealing he was 'running out of energy' after nine years at the helm.

He is planning to take at least a year out from management and is already being linked with jobs at club and international level.

And Howard, who spent 10 seasons at Merseyside rivals Everton, is willing to personally make an offer to fly to Klopp's new holiday home in Majorca, to try and snap him up ahead of next summer's World Cup.

He writes in the Daily Mail: "I know Klopp has only been retired a few weeks and I know he wants a break.

So my pitch would be simple: he has a young group of players who can play progressive, front-foot soccer - exactly like his Liverpool teams.

And in two years’ time he can go to the biggest World Cup in history."

Howard's pitch to snag Klopp for the US side hinges on the squad's potential and the financial muscle behind them.

Meanwhile, Klopp's last deal with Liverpool was said to be worth a whopping $10m (£8m/€9m) annually.

The high salary, coupled with Klopp's ambition to remain in the top-earning bracket, has sparked rumors that he might be too expensive for the Germany job, a position that was previously speculated as his next career move

Howard also pointed out the differences between coaching at the international and domestic levels, suggesting that Klopp would have fewer training sessions and less organizational stress due to the international schedule.

Howard further noted that Klopp wouldn't immediately face towering expectations, especially following the USA's premature exit from the Copa America
