Liverpool legend John Aldridge feels that his former side should have been more savvy during the Merseyside derby, after which both the Reds and Everton have been charged by the FA.

Arne Slot was sent off and is still waiting for the outcome of the tribunal that will take place to determine his punishment.

Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure both received second yellow cards for instigating a brawl at the final whistle and served their one-match suspensions last weekend.

Aldridge says Doucoure should have behaved better — and Liverpool could have been more streetwise to get over the line.

"Doucoure was inciting a riot after the Merseyside derby," Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool ECHO column.
