One of the more famous moves made by a Liverpool star to Real Madrid occurred in 1999 as Steve McManaman made the switch to Spain after deciding to leave his boyhood club.

2009 saw the La Liga giants make a double swoop as the Madrid-based outfit brought Alvaro Arbeloa and Xabi Alonso to the Bernabeu.
