David James was booed by Liverpool supporters after he ruined a young fan's dream of scoring a penalty in front of the Kop.
Both of the penalties were well struck, in fairness, but James dived to his left to save the first one before diving to his right to save the second one.
The former England goalkeeper's saves were met with a chorus of boos from inside the stadium, as a clearly disappointed young Liverpool fan stood with his arms stretched out in exasperation after seeing his second penalty saved.
James appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live to discuss the incident and clearly harbored no regrets over his pantomime villain role.
“I was doing the half-time penalty shoot-out,” James told host Rick Edwards. I got booed from the Kop.” James, who holds the record for the most Premier League penalty saves of all time, with 13, added: “I was proud of it Rick.
The little lad is absolutely gutted and James gives not one s*** about his feelings or the boos from the Kop."
Another said: "David James is now my favourite ever Liverpool player.
A young lad of about 11 got to take a penalty in front of the Kop, which James saved.
