Former Newcastle star Elliot Anderson showed his true colours as he celebrated in the stands after the Magpies won the Carabao Cup.
Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-1 in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley to lift their first major domestic trophy in 70 years and Anderson was in among the Toon supporters as they revelled in their historic victory.
Anderson is a boyhood Newcastle fan who joined the club at the age of eight and followed in the footsteps of his grandfather, Geoff Allen, who also played for them in the 1960s before injury cut short his career.
However, Anderson left Newcastle over the summer, with the 22-year-old sold to Nottingham Forest as part of the club's attempts to avoid breaking the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
Howe has previously admitted he did not want to sell Anderson to Forest, but the club felt they had to in order to avoid a potential points deduction.
"The last thing we want to do, or I want to do as the manager of the club, is to sell academy products who have the potential to play for this team for many years," he said in January when asked about the club's financial concerns.
.
But, when you add up everything together and you go, 'Well, it's a points deduction and breaching PSR or making a sale, I think you have to make the sale'."
Although Anderson may have missed out on Newcastle's Carabao Cup final win, he is enjoying an outstanding debut campaign at Forest.
Forest currently sit third in the Premier League and are set to qualify for next season's Champions League.
