Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca said January has been "a disaster" for the club due to transfer speculation surrounding his squad.

A number of players have been linked with moves away, with the 44-year-old concerned it is affecting focus as team looks to end a five-match winless Premier League run against Wolves on Monday.

Cole Palmer is a doubt for the game at Stamford Bridge, whilst Maresca's woes are compounded by fitness concerns for Levi Colwill, Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez, none of whom trained on Friday.

All four picked up issues during Tuesday's 2-2 draw at home to Bournemouth.

"Cole, his ankle in the first half, they kicked him," said Maresca.

It's the same conversation (for the others)."

It has been an unusually quiet January window for the club with transfer rumours mainly concerning players that might depart.

Defender Renato Veiga was reported to be in discussions with Borussia Dortmund on Monday whilst the head coach has also faced questions on the future of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.

Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei have all been told they are free to find new clubs this month.

"On the pitch, for sure I would like to win more games, but I'm OK," said Maresca, whose team have not won in the league since December 14.

"Off the pitch it's a disaster because so many noises that I don't think help us, but I don't think they help any club.

"It's for every club, every manager.

When there is any noise about some player, it's not easy, because even if you think the player can be focused on us, in the end it's a human being.

"So if there is any noise about some different club, probably he is not focussed a hundred per cent, so it doesn't help.

But we need to adapt."

The recent loss of form has seen Chelsea drop from second towards the end of December to fifth ahead of the meeting with 18th-place Wolves.

With other sides playing before them over the weekend the Blues could be as low as seventh by the time they kick off on Monday night.

"On the pitch, we're in a business where we all judge results," said Maresca.

We saw the best solution was to call him back, first of all because we know him very well we know him very well and second because we're sure that he can help us."

"He knows the house better than me.
