Just four days after his dramatic late winner against West Ham, Virgil van Dijk brought more joy to Liverpool fans by announcing that he has signed a new two-year contract extension with the Reds. 

 The news comes hot on the heels of Mo Salah signing on the dotted line, meaning that two of the club’s greatest ever players are both extending their Anfield careers. 

 After almost a year of near-constant speculation, Van Dijk has put pen to paper on a deal that could see him earn up to £400,000 a week once performance-related bonuses are factored in.

The Dutchman has been back to his best for the majority of the current season, and it appears to be a formality that he will lift the Premier League trophy at the end of the campaign.
