Fabio Carvalho is hopeful of a first-team opportunity with Liverpool at the start of the season as he outlined the team's new "identity" under Arne Slot.
Carvalho scored the decisive goal with a well-taken volley as the Reds earned a 2-1 win over Arsenal in the second game of their pre-season US tour in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The Portuguese has played for just 11 minutes in the Premier League since starting the Reds' 1-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest back in October 2022 and spent last season on loan at Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig and then Championship outfit Hull City.
?
And with friendlies against Manchester United in South Carolina and Sevilla at Anfield before the campaign starts at promoted Ipswich Town on August 17, Carvalho - who at the weekend admitted he could depart before the transfer deadline - is determined to make the most of further chances to impress new boss Slot.

"We’re putting into practice into the games what we’ve learned from the manager and what we already knew we could do," said the 21-year-old, who has started the last two warm-up games on the left flank.

Not just for me but for everyone coming in, there’s a new gaffer, everyone has got a chance to impress and we’ll just go from there.
"As long as we keep working hard, that’s the main thing and that’s what I’m trying to make the most out of.
?
"He wants me to obviously do the defensive stuff first.
It’s good to have someone that’s always on to me, making sure I’m on it, and that’s what I’ve got from the gaffer."

Slot replaced Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool boss at the start of June with the new head coach having spent several weeks working with his players before they jetted out to the United States early last week.
?
And Carvalho has pinpointed the area in which Slot is asking his team to operate differently than under his predecessor.
"I’d probably say playing more through the midfield," he said.
Playing through them and getting me, Mo and the players higher up like Jots on the ball as well.
"Being able to play through the thirds is what we want to do and what the manager wants to be our identity."
?
And of his goal against Arsenal, Carvalho added to liverpoolfc.com: "Playing through the thirds is what he (Slot) wants us to do and getting a lot of players in the box.
Obviously a great pass by Harvey, that’s what he does best.

"Obviously I’ve known Harvey a long time so we already have that connection and I know if I make a run into the box, he’s going to find me.
?
"Not just the gaffer but the coaching staff have been on to me about running in behind, not just getting it into feet.
