Fabrizio Romano has provided his latest update on Liverpool and what they could do in the summer transfer window.
Last summer, the Reds secured only one major signing, Federico Chiesa from Juventus, for a modest £10 million.
This limited transfer business has sparked skepticism about the club’s strategy and raised questions about the role of Sporting Director Richard Hughes.
The futures of key players like Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold remain uncertain, with all three out of contract at the end of the season.
While there is optimism that Salah and Van Dijk will extend their stays, Alexander-Arnold’s situation is more complex, with interest from Real Madrid.
The January transfer window presented an opportunity for Liverpool to address perceived gaps in their squad.
However, the club opted not to make any new signings, instead focusing on loaning out several young players to gain experience.
This decision has been met with disappointment from some fans, who believe that the team’s chances of winning major honors could be compromised by the lack of fresh talent.
But according to Romano, it seems like the club are already making plans for the summer.
Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool news
In the January window, Darwin Nunez brought interest from both Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad in the January window.
Al-Hilal were willing to offer a staggering £29 million per year to bring the Uruguay international to Riyadh.
Al-Nassr also expressed strong interest in Nunez, with reports suggesting that they were “very close” to securing his services in January – although Romano explained at the time that the Anfield hierarchy did not want disturb the squad.
Now the Italian transfer guru has appeared to claim that Nunez could move on in the summer.
Writing on a Threads Q&A session, he revealed that he thinks the Uruguay international has good chances of leaving in summer:
“I think Darwin Nunez might leave Liverpool?
It’s a concrete possibility,” he wrote.
His overall tally of 39 goals in 130 appearances for Liverpool falls short of the expectations set by his prolific form at Benfica, form that saw the Reds splash out the cash in the first place.
What is clear is that both Liverpool and the player will have decisions to make in the summer, as Saudi clubs are sure to return for the 25-year-old.
