Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing Euro 2024 star.
New head coach Arne Slot held his first press conference as pre-season activities commenced at the AXA Training Centre on Friday.
There’s certainly significant activity happening behind the scenes.
Anthony Gordon was poised to be Liverpool’s first summer signing last week, but negotiations for a move to Anfield fell through?
Now, Newcastle appear determined to retain him at St James’ Park.
Fans have a plethora of names to monitor.
Adrien Rabiot, a perennial transfer window target, continues to be linked with Liverpool, while the pursuit of Leny Yoro also remains active.
Nottingham Forest’s Brazilian centre-back Murillo has openly discussed the possibility of a transfer.
What did Fabrizio Romano say?
Fabrizio Romano has offered insights into Liverpool’s summer plans amid speculation linking them with Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.
Guehi has seized the opportunity after starting all of England’s games at this summer’s European Championship.
He has arguably emerged as one of the Three Lions’ standout players.
The 26-year-old’s contract with Palace is set to expire in 2026.
Romano has also addressed reports linking another Liverpool centre-back, Joe Gomez, with Newcastle as part of a swap deal involving Anthony Gordon.
Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, he said: “It’s been a quiet summer for Liverpool so far, but we know there was recently interest in Anthony Gordon, and there has been some speculation about a failed attempt at agreeing a swap deal with Newcastle.
“Some outlets have reported that Joe Gomez was one of the names being offered by Liverpool to Newcastle, but I can’t confirm this.
“Newcastle and Liverpool had a contact for Gordon, as reported a few days ago, but a swap deal was never something close or concrete, so I don’t have this information I’m afraid.
“In terms of names coming in for the defence, Marc Guehi has been linked with Liverpool (as well as other clubs) several times and he’s impressing with England at the Euros.
“There is interest from many clubs, but nothing close or concrete yet as he wants to focus on the tournament now and not be distracted.
“For sure Guehi remains an interesting name for this summer with two years left on his contract at Crystal Palace.”
