With the January transfer window just days away, transfer rumors are intensifying.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Liverpool are working on a deal to bring Rayan Cherki to Anfield.
Now, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the news, revealing that the Reds are indeed interested in the French winger.
Romano mentioned: “Liverpool are interested in Rayan Cherki?
No advanced negotiations yet, but they know the player well, are monitoring him, and are sending their scouts to track his progress.”
The 21-year-old has been attracting significant attention from clubs across Europe following an impressive start to the season with French side Lyon.
After initially being frozen out of the Lyon squad due to his refusal to renew his contract, Cherki extended his deal with the club and regained his spot in the starting XI.
The Frenchman has demonstrated immense quality on the pitch.
At just 21, he has already made 152 appearances for Lyon, contributing 28 goals.
It’s no surprise that such performances in Ligue 1 are drawing interest from top clubs.
Any potential move for Cherki is expected to cost around €30 million.
The player is reportedly being pursued by several high-profile teams, including Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, and Premier League rivals Chelsea.
Since arriving at Anfield, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has made just one signing—Federico Chiesa—adding to his already impressive attacking options.
However, Chiesa’s start at Liverpool has been far from ideal, as the Italian international has spent the last three months recovering from an injury.
Slot will hope that Chiesa can stay fit as the Reds aim to challenge on all fronts this season.
