Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Milos Kerkez and Liverpool after prior transfer links.
The 21-year-old has established himself as one of the Premier League’s standout full-backs, contributing one goal and two assists while helping secure four clean sheets in 19 appearances this season.
His aggressive style and ability to contribute in both attack and defense have drawn comparisons to Andy Robertson by some pundits and fans.
However, the Italian transfer guru has already asserted that Manchester United’s interest appears “more concrete” than Liverpool’s, with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia struggling with injuries over multiple campaigns.
Bournemouth’s strong negotiating position, backed by Kerkez’s contract running until 2027, sees them demanding around £40-50 million for their prized asset.
This represents a significant markup from the £15.5 million they paid AZ Alkmaar in July 2023.
The Reds are expected to prioritize left-back reinforcements in 2025, with Andy Robertson turning 31 and Kostas Tsimikas approaching 293
Liverpool’s current sporting director Richard Hughes, who orchestrated Kerkez’s move to Bournemouth, may be tempted to reunite Dominik Szoboszlai with his compatriot.
However, according to Romano, this is unlikely.
What did Fabrizio Romano say about Milos Kerkez?
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano suggested that while Liverpool have the Hungarian on their radar, it is Manchester United who hold a far greater interest.
“One of the players they appreciate is Milos Kerkez.
I keep saying that both Manchester United and Liverpool have been monitoring the player.”
“But at the moment, my information is that Liverpool is preferring to go for a different profile of player.”
“So Liverpool are not desperate to go for Kerkez.
It’s a player they monitoring, but at the moment Manchester United have been more constant in terms of enquiring and trying to understand the situation of the player,” explained Romano, doubling down on his earlier stance.
“I see Manchester United as a club really interested in Milos Kerkez.”
Interestingly, Kerkez joined the same agency as Federico Chiesa this week – Fali Ramadani’s Lian Sports Group.
This sports agency is well-established in Premier League dealings, ranking 12th globally in 2019 and standing among the top 5 football-specific agencies?
Their track record includes managing deals worth nearly €500 million.
Lian Sports Group brokered the deal between Federico Chiesa and Liverpool – but there does not otherwise seem to be a history of goodwill between the club and the agency.
