The battle for Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen’s signature has intensified this week with Liverpool confirmed among several Premier League giants showing “genuine interest” in the Spanish international.

The 20-year-old defender has become one of the most sought-after young talents in European football following his breakout season with the Cherries.

Bournemouth acquired Huijsen from Juventus for a mere £12.8 million last summer, but his exceptional performances have seen his value skyrocket, with a £50 million release clause now in his contract.

His development under manager Andoni Iraola has been remarkable, helping Bournemouth to their best-ever Premier League points tally and earning himself senior international recognition with Spain.

Half of Europe is interested in the former Juventus man, but Romano has now narrowed down the list somewhat:

“In January, I told you there is a release clause with several clubs interested,” Romano began on his YouTube channel.

“I was mentioning Chelsea, Liverpool, and all the others.

Then I told you in February the clause is 50 million pounds.”

“The reality is Dean Huijsen has not made a decision yet.

He is speaking to all these clubs as there is a release clause so Bournemouth are not involved.

“He is speaking to Chelsea, I can tell you that Chelsea were already open to sending a proposal in January already, but was impossible because the clause was not valid [in winter window].”

“Liverpool will be there, because Liverpool interest is really genuine, they want him for sure but this is not new.”

“Don’t forget about Arsenal, they are there and are pushing.

Mikel Arteta wants one more top defender to add to the squad.”

The Italian then revealed that the likes of Newcastle United, Tottenham, and Bayern Munich will struggle to compete with the aforementioned trio due to a host of reasons:

“It looks difficult for Newcastle United and Tottenham to enter this race in a concrete way with these giants now pushing a lot.

But these two clubs have been there in terms of calling [the player].

“Bayern Munich could also look for a defender in the summer transfer window.

But Bayern feel that Premier League clubs can spend way more.”
