Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on Liverpool’s pursuit of Crystal Palace midfielder Eberechi Eze.
With Premier League action set to resume in less than two months, Arne Slot prepares to step in for Jurgen Klopp.
While many Premier League clubs have been proactive in the transfer market, the Reds have yet to finalize any deals of their own.
However, there’s still ample time for transfers to materialize, keeping supporters eagerly anticipating developments.
Liverpool’s business last summer is generally considered a success, despite Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch struggling to maintain consistent form throughout the season.
Alexis Mac Allister stood out as the club’s top signing, delivering strong performances consistently.
What did Fabrizio Romano say about Liverpool and Eberechi Eze?
Liverpool have reportedly identified Eberechi Eze as a summer transfer target.
The 25-year-old, currently with the England squad at the Euros, has made one substitute appearance so far.
Eze has been a standout performer for Crystal Palace since joining from Queens Park Rangers in 2020, netting 11 goals and providing four assists last season.
His impressive form has drawn interest from several top clubs, including Manchester City, Arsenal, and Tottenham.
According to Fabrizio Romano, negotiations between Liverpool and Eberechi Eze have yet to advance, with the situation still in its early stages.
He said via Playback: “Nothing is advanced in negotiations at the moment the situation is still in early stages, still nothing advanced stages for Liverpool and Eze.”
Eze enjoyed a strong finish to the season despite earlier injury setbacks.
He scored five goals in Crystal Palace’s final six matches, including a crucial winner at Anfield that dealt a blow to Liverpool’s title aspirations.
BBC Sport previously reported that Crystal Palace would be seeking at least £60 million for the playmaker.
Last summer, Eze attracted interest from Manchester City, but the champions opted to sign Matheus Nunes from Wolves instead.
