Fabrizio Romano has provided fresh update on the future of Liverpool right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold.
After a summer of little activity, that saw only Federico Chiesa walk through the doors of the AXA Training Center, it is natural and expected of Liverpool fans to be curious as to what the club’s plans are for the squad.
With the transfer window officially closed, chief among the immediate concerns of many Reds is what Richard Hughes and the club’s chiefs are doing to keep Liverpool’s best players at the club for long.
It is no longer news that three of the club’s best players Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk would soon be out of contract.
At such, there is an urgent need for their contracts to be sorted before January, as they can reach pre-contract agreements with a club oversees when the January transfer window opens.
While Van Dijk and Salah are still in their prime and will improve many teams in Europe, the duo are in the 30s, making their options a bit limited.
However, that is not the case for Alexander-Arnold, who at 25 years still has his best years ahead.
The England international is one of the best players in his position and is attracting serious interest from Real Madrid.
Speaking on the ‘Here We Go’ Podcast on YouTube, the journalist reiterated that Liverpool’s stance on the player has not changed.
“I can guarantee that with Trent, it’s the same situation as Van Dijk and Mo Salah,” he said.
“It’s a priority for Liverpool.
“Conversations to follow between Trent, his agents, and Liverpool to understand what’s going to be next.”
The journalist also revealed that Real Madrid are following Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation at Liverpool and will be willing to pounce if he does not extend his deal at Liverpool.
