Fabrizio Romano has provided his latest update on Trent Alexander-Arnold and his move to Real Madrid.

The 26-year-old stole the headlines this past Sunday with his late winner against Leicester City on Sunday, pretty much handing his boyhood side the Premier League title.

His celebration and subsequent post-match interview dominated the discussion post-match with fans and pundits alike trying to pick up on any sign from the vice-captain.

However, Alexander-Arnold gave very little away in his post-match interview and maintained his silence in the media.

There was hope that the extensions of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk would help influence the right-back to remain at the club.

Managerial uncertainty at the Bernabéu could also play its part, as Carlo Ancelotti and his future with Los Blancos is less than secure.

Gary Neville has asserted that Alexander-Arnold needs to communicate a decision to the fans soon, as once the Reds officially secure the Premier League title there will be nothing else to speak about but the 26-year-old’s future.

Now speaking on the Market Madness podcast, Fabrizio Romano revealed that he doesn’t feel the celebration changes too much – only that Alexander-Arnold wants to show his commitment to the very end:

“Look, that’s a question for Trent, not for me, because I can’t sign contracts, unfortunately.

But to be honest, I think they are at a super-advanced stage.”

“As you mentioned verbally, the deal is almost agreed.

But I think in this case, Real Madrid have no doubts.

“If you speak with people at Real Madrid, they already consider Trent as one of the players at their club for next season, and I don’t think this is going to change,” Romano explained.

“I think Trent, with that celebration and in general, is always showing his commitment to Liverpool and how important it is for him to win the title to show his love for Liverpool until the very end.”

“Then there is Real Madrid waiting for him.

But at the moment, again, Real Madrid are convinced that this is not going to happen.”

If Sunday’s clash with Tottenham proves to be his final Anfield appearance as a Liverpool player, it could well be a farewell worth preparing for.
