Liverpool could have backed themselves into needing a very big summer transfer window in 2025.
The Reds are currently set to lose all three of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk at the end of the season.
As well as addressing the business that was not done in the summer of 2024, Liverpool would need to go big to replace at least one, probably two and ideally all three of those huge players.
In terms of like-for-like replacements for the trio, there isn’t really any.
Each of them are Liverpool legends and arguably the very best players in the world in their respective positions.
Debate will rage about who may be the toughest to replace, but given the fact that he has top-scored at Liverpool in each of his seven seasons at the club so far, Salah has a good shout to win that title.
Liverpool have been linked with Omar Marmoush, Salah’s Egypt teammate in recent days as they scramble to line up the 32-year-old’s successor.
But West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus could seemingly be on the radar, too.

Kudus has been linked with Liverpool plenty of times even before his arrival at West Ham in 2023.
The Ghanaian then had an excellent first season with the Hammers, scoring 14 times in 45 appearances.

While those are nowhere close to Salah numbers, there has been a feeling amongst some that Kudus could become even better than Salah.
As a left-footed forward of 24-years-old and with Premier League experience, the former Ajax man is certainly someone who should be on Liverpool’s radar at the very least.

But speaking via Caught Offside, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says that there is nothing ‘concrete’ going on between Liverpool and Kudus just now.
“Similarly, with Kudus and Liverpool there is currently nothing concrete to report,” claims Romano, after also playing down links to Karim Adeyemi.
“There will be 100 links per day on Liverpool with Salah out of contract but Liverpool are not in discussions or planning any move yet, it’s just a moment where they explore the market and still talk to Salah about the contract.
“So nothing really concrete on Kudus now, it’s not an October/November topic for sure.”
If Liverpool do end up losing Salah next summer, then there’s little question that they would need to replace him like-for-like.
The Reds do have other, versatile forwards who could fill in, with Federico Chiesa perhaps the current outstanding candidate.
But Chiesa is not a natural left-footer and Liverpool could really do with at least one forward player in the squad who is not right-sided.
As a result, a move for Kudus would make a lot of sense.
There have been reports that Kudus has an £85m release clause and he would not come cheap at all.
But he’ll doubtless pick up again and Liverpool should move fast to head off competition.
