Federico Chiesa has decided what he wants to do about his Liverpool future amid a lack of game-time at the club.
The 2024/25 season has been one of disappointment for Chiesa, whose modest £12.5 million move from Juventus last summer, came with so much expectation.
His signing appeared to be another transfer masterstroke by the Merseyside club, with the Euro 2020 champion arriving with significant pedigree and experience.
However, as the 2024/25 season approaches its conclusion, Chiesa’s Liverpool career has stalled dramatically, leading to mounting speculation about an imminent departure.
The Italian international has made just 11 appearances in total – merely three in the Premier League – and has failed to start a single league match under Arne Slot’s management
The 27-year-old’s first full 90 minutes in a Liverpool shirt didn’t come until late January 2025, nearly five months after his arrival, when he featured in a Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven.
As result, speculation about his future has been endless.
There have been consistent links back to Serie A, with the likes of Lazio and Napoli frequently mentioned.
The most recent report from Italy revealed that AS Roma and Claudio Ranieri are keen on signing Chiesa in the summer window.
Per the report by La Repubblica, the former Leicester City manager sees the Italian winger as a key piece in his plans to reshape the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
However, contrary to numerous reports, Federico Chiesa has decided to stay at Liverpool beyond this summer.
This is according to BILD chief correspondent Christian Falk, who claims that the Italian wants to fulfil his contractual obligation at Liverpool.
In his latest Fact Files column for the Daily Briefing, Falk also wrote: “?Not True: Ex-Bayern candidate Federico Chiesa wants to leave Liverpool in the summer.
He wants to fulfil his contract until summer 2028.
He was also not interested in the winter interest from Napoli, Inter Milan and Lazio because he wants to assert himself on Merseyside.
“The fact that he has had problems so far is due to his two injuries?
He wants to show Liverpool this season just how valuable he can be.”
